SNMP

Simple Network Management Protocol: a device exposes counters and state as a tree of values that a monitoring system polls, and sends traps when something changes.

In REAP

The connector polls metrics over SNMP (a read community or an SNMPv3 user) and receives traps; both are telemetry REAP collects itself today.
