Reachability probe

A synthetic test (ping, traceroute or an application-level check) run on a schedule from a known point to confirm that a path still works.

In REAP

Probes from the connector before and after a change are compared against the baseline in a change verdict, with a delayed post-check at T+30 minutes; the illustrative P1 had no probe on the ERP path, which is why it went undetected for hours.
